Stella Foundation Announces Major Fuel Expansion, Targets OFEC Dominance

The CEO of Stella Foundation—noted Benten Baron and steward of the ISDB OptimizedFunction—has unveiled a a sweeping restructuring plan that includes renewed investment in fuel refining, expanded extraction capacity, and an explicit objective to challenge the Organization for Fuel Exporting Companies' (OFEC) position in the interstellar fuel market.

In a statement provided to the Interstellar Commerce Review, Optimized said the Foundation would invest "tens of millions" of CIS to reopen fuel refining operations while pursuing what he described as the "complete decimation" of OFEC in order to "reclaim wider control" over the universal fuel market. He argued that OFEC could not be trusted to act in the interests of the people of Benten.

The foundation further hinted at plans to "stimulate certain markets," while declining to provide any specifics at this time.

The new strategy was announced during a public meeting of the Benten Economic Union, where the statement received a generally favorable response.

Responding to comments about Stella Foundation's membership in the so-called Benten Barons, CptColeslaw of similar fame noted that there was no expectation that the group be considered morally good, just that it operate in benefit to the wider region.

"I mean, the work we do is meant to help the region, but I don't think the term Baron was ever meant to imply that we were "good". My mischief can be benevolent though."

BEU member Vash5222 was skeptical that the plans were forthright however, viewing the announcement with suspicion for ulterior motives.

"'Secret plans' being discussed in the open? Obvious bourgeois bait to manipulate the workers detected. Listen not to their double lies comrades!"

While specifically targeting OFEC's dominance, Optimized did note the greatest challenge the foundation would face is also OFEC's largest strength—cheap permits.

"OFEC has...many cheap permits...thats a lot of companies. If they really banded together they can definitely just flood the market with SF. The question is whether they can hold out during this period of fuel surplus and not go under."

OFEC had not publicly responded to the announcement by publication time, though market participants said they would be watching the SF market closely in the coming weeks.

SF continued to trade steady near 16 CIS per unit at the Benten Commodity Exchange following the announcement.
