The APEX Regulatory Commission has intervened following a wave of cyberattacks targeting Commodity Exchange (CX) orders across faction space over the past 48 hours.
Acting to preserve the integrity of exchange marketplaces, the Commission identified and terminated at least ten APEX accounts after an investigation concluded Monday afternoon. Simultaneously, officials uncovered an exploit within APEX Trading Software that allowed malicious actors to hijack the order system—automatically filling user bids with illicitly acquired goods while siphoning off millions in value across multiple currencies.
The impact was immediate. Orders for several key commodities were effectively wiped out, leaving top producers scrambling to stabilize supply chains and restore trade flow.
As attacks persisted into a second day, the APEX Regulatory Commission moved quickly to identify and patch at least one additional confirmed exploit, while terminating further accounts linked to the activity.
Antares CX Among Hardest Hit
The Antares Commodity Exchange was among the most severely affected. Despite the disruption, the crisis appears to have galvanized local industry.
Speaking to members of United Faction Operations, CEO Evov emphasized the resilience of the region:
The strength of Antares was never in the volume her markets supported. It was in the people. It was in the bases, the planetary populations and the productive capacity of her industry. It was the unashamedly free trading, capitalistic fortitude of her constituents who were willing to stand up, take a risk and say "Yes! I'm going to build/buy/sell that thing!"
And while these attacks on our markets are a dark day...the true strength of Antares remains untouched, unaffected, and undeterred by these hostile actions.
So to all Antarean producers, if you feel you're impacted by market shortages and unavailability of critical inputs, let me know and I'll send a convoy of ships to the literal edge of the universe to bring back what we need to keep the gears of industry turning.
Economic Fallout Uncertain
The full economic ramifications of the attacks remain unclear. With disrupted order books and an influx of improper goods, markets across faction space may face continued instability in the near term.
For now, the efforts of local producers and the effectiveness of the Commission's actions will likely determine how quickly markets recover.
